Dab Rigs & Oil Rigs

A dab rig is used to smoke cannabis concentrates such as rosin, shatter, propane hash oil, butane hash oil, distillate, diamonds, resin, and co2 oils.   The concentrates are often put into the heated nail using a dab tool. Nails range is materials and styles such as quartz bangers, titanium nails, honey buckets, ceramic nails, and even electronic devices. The nail is heated often using a butane torch but not limited to a propane torch or even a hot air heating gun. Following heating the nail and allowing for some cool-down time ranging from 15 seconds to upwards of a full minute depending on the user's preferences and dab tech, the user then drops or melts the concentrates into the nail. Once the product is in the nail, depending on style a carb cap is then put over top of the nail to allow for even product distribution and optimal vapor production.  The vapor travels from the nail through the rig and into the users lungs.

The rig itself is more often than not less than 10” in height and unlike bongs a majority of standard rigs don't contain the classic percolators, but rather designs such as recyclers, fab eggs, and tornado percs. This is largely due to concentrates fast clogging capabilities and the dab tech acting as a cooling technique to aid the water in the rig.

Dab rigs can be made from multiple mediums such as silicone however the most popular remains glass. Hand made or “heady" dab rigs often feature faceted marbles and even precious stones and gems such as opal throughout the glass.
