What You Need To Enjoy 7/10 Like A Pro

July 08, 2021

As we approach July 10th, also known as 710 or "Dab Day", we thought we'd go through what you'll need to enjoy this 710 properly.

International Oil Day, also known as International Dab Day, has been celebrated since around 2012 and complements the traditional 420 celebrations on April 20th. 710 is associated with oil because, when you turn the number upside down, it looks like the word ‘oil’. 710 celebrations probably came about because of the 710 Cup which celebrates all things to do with cannabis oil and concentrates.

Why Dabs?

Dabbing is one of the fastest ways to absorb the highest amount of cannabinoids available and is becoming more and more popular as the range of concentrate products grows. Dabbing can include vaporizing shatter, wax, budder, live resin, live rosin and diamonds and is also one of the best ways to truly "taste" your cannabis and all that terpy goodness.

What You'll Need?

There are a lot of different ways to enjoy your dabs so we've include 4 different setups from the most simple and basic to the highest end for dab aficionados.

The Basic Set Up:

1. Dab Rig, Banger, Torch, Carb Cap and Dab Tool

This is the most standard issue set up and can cost anywhere from $80 all in to $200 depending on the rig, torch and banger cost. This basic setup is a great way to enjoy dabs of any size with great flavor....though not very portable.

2. Nectar Collector and Torch

This is one of the simplest set ups as all you need is the nectar collector and torch (you can use mini torches here) and can cost anywhere from $60 to $100 depending on the torch cost. This set up is easy to figure out0, still provides great flavor for smaller dabs and is semi portable....though you might get some eyeballs doing this out in public.

3. Basic Dab Pen

This is one of the cheapest and simplest options, starting at $30 and is very portable and discreet. The only downside is you do sacrifice some flavor quality, depending on the coil options, and these are primarily designed for small dabs....no huge hits.

The 2nd Tier Setup:

1. Dab Rig, Specialty Banger, Torch, Terp Timer, Carb Cap and Dab Tool

Using a Terp Timer as well as different specialty bangers (like the Terp Slurper) is a great way to up your dabbing game. Here the cost starts rising to $200+.

2. High End Nectar Collector and Torch

Some Nectar collectors offer better percs and designs for a smoother hit and better flavor. Check out our Dabbing Do's and Don'ts to see why hot dabs equal a bad time.

3. 2nd Tier Dab Pen

Much like the nectar collectors, there are higher end dab pens that offer better coil options (quartz plates are better than rods) as well as glass percs for a smoother hit. Here we start seeing better flavor while maintaining portability.

The Advanced Set Up:

1. Simple Heady Dab Rig, Specialty Banger, Torch, Terp Timer, Carb Cap and Dab Tool

Once you've started getting really into the world of dabbing, you need yourself a hand blown heady rig. Production branded glass will do the job just fine, but there's nothing that quite compares to your own beautiful heady piece. The price can start getting steep here starting around $300 and going up to a couple thousand quite easily.

2. E-Nail Set Up

E-Nail's and Portable E-Nails offer more control, are great for session dabbing and give you a variety of head options (quartz, titanium and ceramic) which offer different advantages for different styles of dabs. These start out around $160 and can go up to $600. Get yourself a Dual or Quad E-nail setup if you want to look like a boss when company is over.

3. Basic Electronic Dab Rig

Electronic dab rigs are becoming all the rage and the technology keeps on improving. These devices offer great taste, big dabs and portability all in one device. These start around $350 and can go up to $700.

The Ballin' Set Up:

1. Badass Heady Rig, Specialty Banger, Torch, Terp Timer, Carb Cap and Glass Dab Tool

There are some crazy heady pieces out there, (Mothership Glass, StratusphereGlass, etc) and these pieces are for the serious glass-head as they can cost up to $10,000 to $20,000.

2. High End Electronic Dab Rig

Rigs like the Puffco Peak Pro or the Dr Dabber Switch may be pricey (of course not compared to the heady rigs above) but they offer beautiful flavor, great battery life and amazing portability. Take your Peak Pro to the highest Peaks and dab on a mountain or a lake.
